You alone are enough. You have nothing to prove to anybody.
Counseling For Depression
What is depression?
Everyone feels sad or down sometimes, and endures hurt at various times throughout life. When sadness is persistent and impacts how you think or function from day to day, you may be dealing with depression. Depression is a mood disorder that causes significant distress. Sadness is one sign that often comes to mind, but the truth is, there are many people who experience depression and do not feel sad. Depression impacts each person differently, depending on their unique circumstance, and typically lasts a minimum of two weeks.
Here are some common signs of depression:
> Persistent feelings of sadness, emptiness, or irritability
> Loss of enjoyment in activities or hobbies that you once found pleasurable
> Difficulty sleeping
> Changes in appetite or weight
> Isolation
> Difficulty concentrating or making decisions
> Feelings of hopelessness, guilt, or worthlessness
> Low energy or fatigue
> Repeated thoughts of death or suicide
Depression can be caused by major life events, such as the loss of a job or death of a loved one, or even a recent breakup. It can also be triggered by burnout or overwhelm with the responsibilities of life. Certain physical illnesses, medications, and genetics may also be contributing factors. Despite the cause, you are not alone. Depression is one of the most common mental health challenges in the U.S.
How Depression Counseling can help:
When people reach out for support with depression, we often hear things like, “I feel stuck” or “No one ever appreciates me” or “I don’t feel like being bothered”. There may also be this belief of “I can’t” – feeling as thought you can’t accomplish a certain thing, like happiness or peace or even getting out of bed. These struggles are real, and we get it.
At Isaiah Counseling & Wellness, our team of experienced therapists will help you understand what you’re dealing with, while supporting you in creating a new narrative for your life. What we know is that our thoughts, whether helpful or unhelpful, negative or positive, ignites an emotion within us, which then manifests in our behavior. Through working with us, our clients feel better. They repair those relationships that depression may have negatively impacted. They are more engaged in life. They feel a sense of purpose and hope. They sleep better and begin to get back into the things that used to bring them joy.
Navigating life with depression can be challenging, but depression counseling or therapy could offer you a better outlook on life and specific tools that you can use well beyond the counseling room. We genuinely want you to be well, and are here to help you discover your purpose and meaning again. We would love to welcome you to therapy and help you get back on track. Give us a call today!
